Caroline Little, CEO of Newspaper Association of America, explains in a recent update why critics who interpret changes in the traditional newspaper model as acts of desperation are wrong. Little states that newspapers are transforming based on three factors: levering newspapers competitive strengths, building a sustainable digital model, and further establishing a newspapers position in the community.
Many statistics support Little's claims that newspapers will survive. She cites numerous studies from NAA's multiplaform study, an Online Publishers Association study, as well as statistics from comScore which show newspapers are facing their challenges.
